I decided to pursue PM&R because I love how it focuses on my two favorite areas of study (MSK and Neuro), and the emphasis on function really aligns with my goals in medicine.
-
One of the biggest challenges I have faced while in medical school is balancing family obligations with the busy schedule required of a medical student. Sometimes things go wrong in your personal life, and medical school does not leave a lot of room to deal with the problems and struggles students are facing. I am so grateful to have a wonderful support system; my family is both my motivation and my greatest source of support on this journey.

I think PM&R is a field that is doing a lot to support equity, especially in terms of advocating for patients with disabilities. I am so happy to be part of this organization and help my colleagues on the leadership team with their ideas for advancing this cause even further!
-
As a preclinical med student, I am still very open-minded when it comes to choosing a subspecialty within PM&R. We'll see what the future brings!
